The renowned Kenyan gospel singer and media personality Kambua Mathu is reflecting on her life upon turning 40 years old.
She took to her social media pages to share beautiful, professionally shot pictures accompanied with a lengthy caption that looked back at her journey.
“40! Fabulous! Favoured! Fearless! Forever indebted to Yahweh for fighting for me in every season. I survived a decade that nearly broke me, and threatened to take me out, BUT GOD. I stand boldly as a testament of trials and triumphs!” Kambua wrote.
The Umetenda Mema singer added that she is looking to her future with determination and purpose.
“I have been at the precipice of something. Something greater than my mind can conceive- I sense it with my whole being. In this milestone year, I will not settle for anything less than what God has called me to be. My vision is clearer than it’s ever been.”
Kambua then expressed gratitude for God’s presence in her life and for hitting the age milestone.
“God, it’s a yes even now. Yes to your way. Yes to your will. Yes to your time. Your peace is my peace. Your joy is my joy. Your strength is my strength. Your yes is my yes.Jesus, thank you for the journey that brought me to 40, and thank you for the journey that leads me on…”
The singer has throughout her career not shied away from sharing her ups and downs with fans.
She told fans and followers that she had tragically suffered child loss in the past.
In February 2021, the singer made the painful revelation that she had lost her precious new born son, Malachi, just days after he came into the world.
And last year, the singer and digital creator shared through a YouTube video that she had also suffered an early pregnancy loss (miscarriage), although she did not state the exact dates when it happened nor give more information.
The renowned singer had a message for mums who have suffered child loss last month, sharing a heartwarming video encouraging them on her social media pages.
“October is pregnancy and infant loss awareness month. And this is a month where we take time to remember mothers who have gone through miscarriage like I did… I never knew that I would be the one in four who will have a miscarriage.. I never knew that I would be the one in eight who would experience child loss, but this is the reality that we live with,” she said.
“The mother who lost an embryo, the one who lost a twin pregnancy, the mother who lost a child at birth, the mother who had a stillbirth, the mother who cannot conceive- this is a month where we remember all of you.”
She added: “And to remind you that you are seen, and that you are so loved, and you are not alone, so hey mama, it’s gonna be okay, from my heart to yours.”
