Celebrated Mugithi singer Samidoh Muchoki cut ties with his former manager Moses Marite over a month ago, and now, the situation has taken a legal turn.

Marite was arrested at an unspecified date following allegations that he mishandled security deposits from a popular club in Sagana that had booked Samidoh to perform, as reported exclusively by Nairobi News.

“According to Linus Marangi, the marketer for Pcash Lounge in Sagana, Samidoh claimed that he had not received the Ksh 100,000 deposit.”

Nairobi News notes: “The arrest followed complaints that Marite, while acting as Samidoh’s manager, had accepted several advance payments on behalf of the artist without informing him.”

The former music executive was arraigned at the Baricho Magistrate’s Court on October 22, and accused of fraudulently collecting deposits while pretending to arrange performances.

Samidoh announced that he had parted ways with Marite through a public notice shared to fans and supporters on his social media accounts on September 24.

“He is not authorized to transact any business, negotiate or enter into any contract on behalf of Samidoh,” the statement read in part.

Marite spoke out days later, thanking the singer for their time together and assuring clients of his utmost attention.

“My sincere apologies to you for instances where I have wronged you and your brand knowingly and unknowingly as I carried out my duties,” he wrote on social media, adding, “To the few special cases with concerns, I promise I will amicably resolve your issues at personal level before the due dates of your booked dates.”

Before their fallout, the two had a long standing professional relationship and were also good friends.
