Kenyan rappers Femi One and Boutross Munene have joined forces on a new track, Memories, which was released October 30.
Femi features the Story Ilianza rapper on the project, which has been described as “bringing out the best in both artistes.”
Ahead of its release, Femi One teased snippets of the song on social media.
She shared an Instagram post of herself and Boutross in the studio, writing: “Really so excited for this…Sijui kama mko ready ( I don’t know if you are ready).”
Capital FM’s The Sauce reports: “With clever punchlines and bars for days, Femi One and Boutross effortlessly complement each other’s style and flow. This musical fusion promises to be a certified hit.”
The track is produced by Desmond $ire Bosire and Micrule, while the visuals are done by talented creative director Steve Mugo.
“Working with Boutross has been amazing. His unique sound and our shared passion for pushing the boundaries of Kenyan Hip-Hop made this track come alive,” Femi said.
Paa Tanzania describes Femi as a leading female rapper in East Africa, reporting that the lass was scooped up by Kaka Empire record label soon after finishing High School.
“Her 2019 single ‘Utawezana’ become a viral sensation and [at the time of the report, 2021] she built on that success with the release of her debut album, ‘Greatness’, which showcases a versatile artist willing to switch up her musical style as often as she does her striking dyed hair.”
