It started with a post about her celibacy journey over the past year; leading hawk-eyes fans away from the trail.
Then, a day letter, there was a well-produced video on which the celebrated comedian Mammito Eunice bared her growing baby bump in what would be a revelation of good news to fans.
“Muurima iliguzwa…Download Chumz today,” she captioned the Instagram video.
It was a humorous reference to a now popular phrase that has come up locally in the wake of rapid political changes that have occurred in the country recently; coupled with a brand advertisement.
In the clip, the funny lady acts as a goalkeeper, catching balls before they hit the net.
“Kwani unataka nishike ball ngapi (How many balls do you want me to catch)?” she poses.
Kushika Ball (catching a ball) is a Sheng phrase that means getting pregnant, and here, Mammito’s revelation becomes clear.
The camera pans to show her bare baby-bump, which is decorated with a white paint design, making it even harder to miss.
“Pregnancy is a blessing,” she adds. “Mimi Mammito, nilipatana na pappito, tukatengeneza babbito (I Mammito met Pappito and we made babbito).”
Fans and colleagues flocked to her comment section to send warm wishes and congratulatory messages.
Others were, however, stunned and confused because of the celibacy post that came a day prior.
“I have been celibate this year and that has really centered me,” the comedian wrote on an October 28 post.
Mammito also shared another video, this time wearing a red, body-hugging sequin gown.
Kate Actress wrote: “I am choosing to finally believe you, congratulations babe, wishing you nothing but bliss on this beautiful journey.”
“I don’t know whether to laugh or congratulate you my sister. Why am I confused!?” wrote Ugandan comedian Anne Kansiime, as more messages trickled in.
