The Blankets and Wine Festival is back, and its line-up features an exciting mix of international and local artistes.

The event, set for October 6 at the Laureate Gardens, Nairobi, will bring to the stage South African rapper and songwriter Nasty C, Amapiano sensation Simmy, Sun-El Musician and beloved Kenyan acts Karun, Charisma, Fathermoh, Fadhilee Itulya and Wanjine.

Muthoni Ndong’a, Founder GoodTimes Africa the production company behind the Blankets and Wine told a national publication that everything is in place for a thrilling event.

She said: “If you’d like to organise a proper concert and ensure it runs smoothly you require a combination of thorough planning, sufficient staffing, correct risk assessment with inbuilt redundancy and trustworthy executors.”

Soon after she was listed on the lineup, R&B musician Karun did a promotional video for the highly anticipated fete, allowing fans to get to know her better.

“If I had to describe myself in one word, it would be extraterrestrial,” she said.

“I started my music career sort of by chance when I was 13 then I met the right friends of a friend who introduced me to more people who were as obsessed with music as I was.”

The Glow Up singer then shared female artistes she looks up to, and they include Sza and Eryka Badu.

“So far, I think the most rewarding moment in my music career would be when I had my listening party earlier this year… being surrounded by people who care about my music was really special.”

RollingStone Africa reports that at the start of the year, Blankets & Wine set out to host four editions—one every first Sunday of each quarter and a final one in December.

“Founded in Nairobi in 2008, the festival has served as a space for the celebration of African culture through art, food, music and lifestyle in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda for nearly two decades.”

The report adds: “Featuring a mix of budding and mainstream musicians, [the festival] is known to offer a variety of genres including Afropop, reggae, soul, jazz, hip-hop and electronic music.”
