American actress Halle Bailey and her rapper boyfriend Darryl Dwayne “DDG” have split up, according to a statement uploaded on DDG’s Instagram stories on October 3.
The note addressed to friends and supporters expressed that the couple decided to go their separate ways after much reflection and heartfelt conversations.
“This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared,” the statement read in part.
“Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our own individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”
The rapper then asked followers for their understanding as they navigated the split.
Halle and DDG first met through their respective careers, per Us Weekly.
“I’ve been a fan of his for years,” the Little Mermaid star gushed to Essence in November 2022. “I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them.”
The report added: “While Halle -who rose to fame as a young singer alongside her sister Chloe Bailey-first stumbled across DDG’s videos in 2015, she soon ‘forgot about him.'”
“But then I saw that he was dropping music, and I really gravitated toward this one song. Coincidentally he messaged me — and the rest is history.”
The pair welcomed a baby boy in December last year, and their split after nearly 3 years together has shocked fans.
Daily Mail reports: “In April, rumors began to circulate that both Bailey and DDG had split when she was seen at Coachella solo – but her rep shut down the rumors to TMZ.”
