Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja is celebrating music by sharing some of the songs he loved this year.
The politician, who is known to take a keen interest in the arts, unveiled his favourites, dubbed Sakaja’s Vibe List 2024, and it featured 36 tracks.
From Bien and Scar Mkadinali’s Lifestyle, to Nyashinski’s Busy, the Governor showed love to a variety of Kenyan hits.
More local tracks included Anguka Nayo(Wadagliz), Set It (Dyana Cods ft Ajay), Tiktoker (Soundkraft ft Tipsy Gee), Inakubalika ( Matata from Watendawili) among others.
Capital FM’s The Sauce reports that Sakaja’s list captures the energy and diversity of Nairobi’s vibrant music scene.
“The list features a mix of local and international hits, showcasing a wide array of genres, from Arbantone to global chart-toppers.”
The report adds that appearances by the likes of Bien, Bensoul, Nyashinski and Scar Mkadinali reflect the country’s dynamic talent pool.
Governor Sakaja also enjoyed Tanzanian music, tuning in to Komosava (Diamond Platnumz), Huu Mwaka (Dayoo), Mind Your Business (Darassa), Ololufe Mi (Jux) and more.
His music taste has been described as electric- it moves from the bustling East African music scene to the West and South with some love for Ayra Starr and DJ Maphorisa.
“In 2024, Nairobi continues to be a vibrant hub of creativity, and I am proud to stand as a champion for the creative industry. Our local music scene is not just entertainment; it’s a reflection of Nairobi’s spirit—bold, diverse, and full of life. As a county, we’re committed to nurturing this culture and providing platforms for our artists to thrive,” the Governor said.
