French luxury fashion house Chanel has named Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o as its latest brand ambassador.
The Oscar-winning actress, producer and New York Times Bestselling author has always been a friend to the iconic brand, as noted by Hypebeast.
“In the past, she has worn numerous of the house’s creations and even attended the past FW24 Haute Couture show and wore a Chanel Haute Couture gown to the Academy Museum Annual Gala in Los Angeles this past December.”
The report adds: “The actress hit the ground running, attending her first regular season Chanel show soon after she was announced as the new ambassador.”
News of Lupita’s appointment was first released exclusively to Women’s Wear Daily on October 1.
“They were one of my first supporters. I remember wearing them as early as 2013 right when my first film, ‘12 Years a Slave,’ came out. And over the years, they’ve often invited me to things and treated me with wonderful hands, and so when they approached me to be an ambassador, I felt very honored,” the actress told the publication.
She took to her Instagram account to make the official announcement to fans, writing: “I am deeply honored to share that I am now a global brand ambassador for the House of Chanel. It was wonderful to attend their Spring-Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear show at the Grand Palais today. Merci beaucoup, @chanelofficial!”
