Wizkid reignites feud with Davido

Wizkid reignites feud with Davido
  • PublishedOctober 2, 2024

Celebrated Nigerian artistes Wizkid and Davido are back to throwing jabs at each other.

Yesterday, Davido revealed via social media that he would be releasing his first single of the year. It would be on the same date when WizKid is scheduled to release the first track of his 2024 album Morayo.

A Davido associate followed up the announcement by taking to X to hit out at WizKid’s team.

Punch, a Nigerian magazine reports: “[The associate], Kayode Yajaur, popularly known as Black Tycoone, took a jab at Wizkid, seemingly mocking the delay in his album drop. He tweeted, ‘Tell your Daddy to drop an album already.’”

“Unfazed, [Wizkid] responded by throwing shade at Davido’s camp, writing on X, ‘[Expletive] boys dropping mid again,’ before adding, “Una don tire! Make una go rest small!

Another X user then accused Wizkid of clout-chasing using Davido’s name.

Wizkid reacted by saying he had no need to “beef” Davido to promote his music, before calling Davido ‘wack and talentless.’

“I don’t beef wack [expletive]! We all know he’s wack! No talent!,” Wizkid wrote.

The Ojuelegba singer added: “We got 80 albums for any song y’all drop!” which was a jab at Davido’s discography.

Davido is yet to respond- but this feud is not just beginning, it has existed since the early days of both stars’ careers.

The two Nigerian bigwigs were involved in another fiery feud in April, when they traded insults on social media.

At the time, Wizkid called Davido’s mentor Don Jazzy an influencer and trolled the Assurance singer with a video of him crying while on his knees “as an example of how fans should beg him (Wizkid) for new music.”

Pulse Nigeria reports: “The duo who broke into the mainstream in 2010 and 2011 respectively have remained at the summit of the industry for over a decade, and during that time they have had a love-hate relationship fuelled by competition and differences between their respective camps and fan bases.”
