This year’s SolFest concert is set to take place in December, and the artiste line-up is out.
Organisers unveiled a star-studded list of local musicians who have been all over the airwaves this year through a post on the event’s official Instagram page.
Performers are split into two groups- the first category on the list is dubbed Rhumba Generation Ensemble, and includes Charisma, Bien, Bensoul, Nviiri the Storyteller, Suzanna Owiyo, Them Mushrooms, Savara, Les Wanyika, Vijana Barubaru, Wanavokali, Fancy Fingers, Yabaa and Chimano.
The second category is called Arbansol Collectives, and incudes Tipsy Gee, Ajay, Dyana Cods, Breeder, Ndovu Kuu, FatherMoh, Maandy, Jukeboxx, Wadagliz and Ssaru.
The first edition of SolFest took place in 2021 at the Carnivore Grounds, and its massive success saw the continuation of the annual event in the years that followed.
In September, organisers announced this years’ concert dates as December 21 (fan show) and December 19 (VIP).
“SolFest, though founded by Sauti Sol, is a festival that truly embodies the spirit of Kenya. It was created by Kenyans, for Kenyans, with the aim of reaching a global audience,” a statement on Solfest’s Instagram reads in part.
It adds: “The festival’s mission is to highlight Kenyan music, culture, and creativity on a platform that showcases our best to both local and international audiences.”
The statement notes that it is time for more artistes to take the stage after the dedication and diligence reflected in their music.
“These artistes have worked incredibly hard to achieve greatness, and now it is their turn to elevate SolFest to new heights. These musicians deserve this opportunity. Their dedication and talent have earned them the chance to shine on the SolFest stage, and they are ready to make their mark on the festival.”
