The impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua by Members of Parliament and the Senate was of his own making according to Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula.
Savula said Gachagua rubbed leaders and politicians incorrectly when performing his duties as the Deputy President hence the motion.
He said the embattled former Deputy President preached disunity among Kenyans by implying that the government is a shareholding company that attracts a certain section of the country’s voters.
“As the Deputy President, is a symbol of National Unity and cannot therefore insinuate that the government as a shareholding company will give priority to those who voted for the regime,” he noted.
He called on the Gachagua to accept his predicament and allow the nominated Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to be sworn into office.
“This is a political process that has been sanctioned by both houses and it is in the best interest of time that he (Gachagua) throws in the towel,” he said.
The Deputy Governor said both houses followed the due process of the law in the impeachment of the besieged deputy president.
While supporting the ouster of the Deputy President, Savula indicated that the impeachment motion belonged to the Members of Parliament who ousted him.
The Deputy Governor was speaking on Sunday during Mashujaa Day celebrations held at Inaya Primary School grounds, Butere Sub County.
