Have Governor Waiguru succeed Gachagua, Ruto asked
As impeachment trial for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua commences in the Senate today, lobbying continues for his successor in the event that his impeachment sails through.
A section of Mt. Kenya East residents have endorsed Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru as the most suitable candidate for the seat.
They said the seat should remain in the region and called on President Ruto to give it to a woman in line with his promise of having a female running mate in the future.
Speaking after a public baraza in Runjenyes Constituency with security agencies on Tuesday, the residents said Governor Waiguru had a proven track record of leadership at the county level given the development projects she had initiated since she took over reins of county leadership.
Agnes Wambogo said Waiguru can as well replicate the fete at the national level if given a chance which will also be a win for the women.
Another resident, Nicasio Kithinji, maintained that the seat should remain in the region given the overwhelming votes they gave the UDA administration.
