Content creator Sandy ‘Kahush’ Kahumba has taken social media by a storm this September.
Her videos, which she uploads on TikTok have gone viral, and on them, she softly talks gentlemen through their daily activities. The clips have been winning over thousands of male fans locally, while at the same time sparking heated conversations online.
“Hi Kababa, how are you?” Sandy says in a soft voice on one of her most popular videos, which has been viewed over 2.5 million times on the app, and received a steadily rising 250,000 likes.
“I was just checking up on you and reminding you to pray. Did you pray today? Huh? You should pray, don’t forget to pray,” the content creator says before blowing a kiss.
Her growing fan base shows her love in the comments, with many men approving her gentle communication as the right way to approach a guy to make him feel special and loved.
“Aki hiyo kiss itanisukuma wiki yote (That kiss will keep me for the whole week),” writes one fan.
“Sandy, would you believe there is a girl stressing me out and then there is you here calling me Kababa,” writes another.
Kababa is a slang word of sorts, removed from the word Baba, which means dad or father, and is often used locally on young men or boys, especially by a gentle parent or elder as an affectionate term.
“For you to be treated well, you have to behave well and treat the woman well,” she told Oga Obinna in an interview, explaining whether all men deserve the “Kababa” treatment.
“I believe men are fragile creatures, and they need to be treated with care and affection. That’s the way I see it.”
The content creator then gave the example of a hardworking man who has been toiling the whole day, noting that she believes he should come home to a peaceful home and a partner who approaches him gently and softly.
The 20- year old further said that it is crucial for the ladies to be more proactive about checking on their partners throughout the day- making sure they have eaten, been drinking water, and how his work day is going.
But it was her comments on cheating that sparked the most debate online- she insinuated that if a man cheats, the woman should reflect on her role in pushing him to do it.
“During the interview, Kahush posed a provocative question: ‘If your woman is always there for you, she cooks well, she is just everything, would you cheat?’ This question suggests that a woman’s contributions, including emotional support and nurturing, are directly linked to a man’s fidelity,” Odri Media interrogates Sandy’s viral ideas.
“By framing the issue in this way, she places considerable responsibility on women to ensure their partners remain faithful, which can lead to feelings of guilt or inadequacy when infidelity occurs.”
The content creator told Commentator 254 about finding out her videos had blown up, and the feeling of new found fame.
“I had an account before this one, it was at 60K before it got banned- yeah, I lost an account. I had done a few of the videos of ‘Hi kababa’, and they were a hit, but not as seriously as now. They were ranging at 80K in views,” she said.
“So once this account was banned, I had this backup, so I made it my main channel. I started doing videos, and I just felt the urge to do one more video ya Hi Kababa… I made around two and then continued making other content. Then after two weeks, the views started changing. The videos were getting stitched and were attracting a lot of attention. I was getting up to 10,000 new followers in a day.”
Today, Sandy’s account stands at an impressive 286,000 followers, with a cumulative like count of over 3.9 million.
