Massage Therapist Steve sparks outrage over ‘hating children’
The popular content creator Steven Collins Kariuki, popularly known as Massage by Steve has angered a section of Kenyans with his recent comments about children.
Steve went on the Obinna Show Live early this week where he spoke about his life and career, and the conversation moved from his background to his aspirations for the future.
While the topics were light-hearted and funny at first, it took a turn to a deeper level later on when Obinna asked Steve about whether he would ever want to have children.
“Nah.” He said simply at first, before adding, “Wewe ukileta mtoi hapa saa hizi mimi naondoka” (If you bring a child here right now I will leave).
He then went on to complain about children in different states- from crying babies to crawling babies.
“What’s he crying about?” Steve mocked the hypothetical child.
He added: “That’s how much I hate kids.”
The statement left interviewer Oga Obinna stunned, while viewers in the comments began to debate on the statement. Some appreciated his honesty, while many were appalled at his outright loathing for innocent young ones.
“As a medic what I can try to get out of Steve’s story is that he had trauma growing up and he has said it loud. The trauma changed his way of viewing kids as beautiful beings instead as troublesome,” wrote one Esther Mbute.
“Hate is the opposite of love, but I don’t get why people tend to believe that hate is a strong word more than love. Steve is real, I respect his opinion,” wrote a YouTube viewer going by Nyabs.
Massage By Steve also goes by the nickname Wakaniaru, and often draws views onto his social media pages by sharing bold sentiments about life, as well as talking about his interesting job.
The content creator has seen massive success on TikTok, where he boasts over 470,000 followers and a jaw-dropping cumulative 16 million likes
